Hey there! I’m Amara—my middle name is Lea, but most people call me Mar Mar. Of course, the name I hear the most is 'Mom.' But if I’m lucky, by the end of this, I hope you'll call me a friend!
*FUN FACTS: I’m a Scorpio, my love language is: Words of Affirmation, obsessed with thunderstorms, and I love my decaf vanilla lattes (caffeine gives me anxiety).
Looking back, it’s clear that photography was always meant to be my path. As a child, I was constantly seizing every opportunity to capture moments, whether through photos or video, and that passion only grew as I got older. After high school, I headed to NDSU to pursue a degree in Interior Design—a field I’ve always loved. While it was a great passion, it wasn’t quite what I had expected. Despite that, I was determined to finish the program. But during my sophomore year, I found out I was pregnant with my first child. At that point, I made the decision to step away from Interior Design and focus on my son.
When my son was born in 2007, I took thousands of photos—just like every new parent does. Friends would often tell me I should become a photographer, but for some reason, it never crossed my mind, even though I’d always loved capturing moments. After giving it some serious thought, I finally decided to invest in my first camera and lenses, with a little help from a family member. That’s when my journey into photography began. What I love about photography is that it’s all about art and creativity—something that has always come naturally to me. I’m entirely self-taught and still learning every day. As an artist, you're always evolving, always striving to improve. My goal is to capture YOUR story someday and provide you with the gift of memories that will last a lifetime!
